So I am one week away from our vacation and I am pumped!! I can’t wait for the ability to sleep in without feeling guilty or needing an excuse; I can't wait for slow easy mornings; I can't wait to do some devotions on the deck by the lake; I can't wait for lazy afternoons and easy evenings; I can't wait to spend time with the people I love most in this world; I can't wait to refresh my relationship with my wife.
You can agree with me or not, but I think vacations are a blessing from heaven. As I was thinking about starting our vacation I had this thought, "Why can’t all of life be like a perpetual vacation?" Besides it being completely unrealistic, it would then be called "life" not "vacation.”
In the end, after I contemplated all the ways we can make life like a vacation, and came up with several anecdotes, mini-sermons and suggestions, I ultimately decided, "Rollie, who cares why life isn't more like a perpetual vacation. Just enjoy your vacation or you’ll ruin it just thinking about it."
So there you go, that's my deep advice today about vacations and life. I hope you get to take some vacation time this summer.
