the week after easter
April 8, 2010
Well it's the week after Easter. Back to normal. Back to lower expectations for Sunday. Back to just remembering to show up Sunday. Back to.......?
Come on Church, I say NO! Psalm 118:24 says, "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!" I've had to fight feelings of letdown myself this week - almost a kind of relief that I didn't need to be so "on top of it this week." How silly is that! The Bible tells us we are to be a living testimony, a light that cannot be hidden, a city set on top of the hill. Besides that, we have just 52 Sundays in 365 days a year to come together in a passionate display to all of how great our God is.
Do you have an expectation this week? A fresh sense of preparation to encounter your living Savior this Sunday? A heightened interest in inviting your friends? An anticipation to see the other members of your church that Jesus calls His Bride?
I pray you are having an "empty tomb" week and your expectation and faith are once again building for the Lord's day. May your Monday through Saturday be filled with God's presence, and your Sunday be a culmination, a testimony to your vibrant relationship with your risen Savior, Jesus Christ.
It's Thursday but Sunday is coming!
